An online course on sacraments in the Uniting Church in Australia, run over eight Wednesday nights, led by Duncan Macleod & Anneke Oppewal, Presbytery Ministers with Port Phillip East Presbytery.

During the COVID-19 restrictions we’ve had to ask significant questions about why we celebrate communion, the role of the presider, and the issue of where and when we celebrate. Here’s a great chance to explore these questions and more.

Sacraments in the Uniting Church is an invitation to explore the meaning baptism and holy communion, and discuss what God offers to us as we participate in them. We’ll also cover Uniting Church approaches to adult and infant baptism, offering communion to children, and being baptised more than once. We’ll have a chance to try out Uniting Church orders of service, and look at how sacraments can be experienced away from the church building.

Sacraments in the Uniting Church is offered to all people interested in learning more about how our experience of God in baptism and holy communion. People who are hoping to be authorised as lay presiders will need to complete the five assignments associated with this course.

The $30 fee covers a pack of printed UCA resources for holy communion, baptism and thanksgiving for a child.
